Most problems don’t have simple answers. They require long-term, far reaching and ultimately loving responses. Most problems don’t settle for only affecting an individual but permeate into the lives of families and communities. Life can get complicated and messy. But God calls us into these places.

In the poor areas of Phnom Penh, drug use has become a significant issue. Interserve worker Dave and local pastor Phanna already work in these communities providing employment opportunities and mentoring to vulnerable youth (See gift of Opportunity). They are seeing from working in these communities that the poor often:

1/don’t know how to access services

2/don’t have enough money to access them

3/or haven’t been asked if they want to stop using and start a new life.

“We feel that there is a huge need for us to be the link between the poor and services that can help them, while encouraging and mentoring them.”, says Dave.

The model is simple: CONNECTING with youth who are using drugs, SUPPORTING them, REFERring them to other NGO’S that do rehab and vocational training and FOLLOW UP so they are transitioning to a healthy future.  There will also be Drug education/prevention for nearby communities.

This project is raising funds to help vulnerable people to have healthy lives and families away from drugs and poverty.

Will you help make it happen?
